He is currently head of the Geriatrics Service at the University Hospital of Getafe, Professor of Geriatrics at the European University of Madrid and Scientific Director of the thematic area of Fragility and Healthy Ageing at the Centre for Networked Biomedical Research (CIBERFES). Previously, he was Director of the Foundation for Biomedical Research at the University Hospital of Getafe (Madrid). He is a founding member and president of the Latin American Academy of Medicine for the Elderly (ALMA). He participates in various European and Latin American research networks.
His research focuses on the study of ageing and fragility, including the study of cardiovascular diseases and diabetes in the elderly, as well as risk factors and prognostic factors involved in the development of fragility and functional impairment in the elderly.
